The recalled strikers Emmanuel Okwi and John Bocco both scored from the spot kick in each half to give Simba SC a 2-2 draw against Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg tie at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The match stopped in 80th minute because lights went out then followed by heavy rains. The officials took the players out of the pitch in order to assess the situation before the game continued after 30 minutes.
The game started slowly as the visitors tried to make the host play in their system, however, Simba SC took the lead in 10th minute when defender Mohamed Koffi handle the ball in the penalty area and the referee awarded a spot kick which was well taken by Bocco.
The goal did not last for long as Ahmed Gomaa levelled the game within one minute after capitalizing in poor Simba’s defending.
The visitors went ahead in 26th minute through Ahmed Shoukry who scored from the spot kick following defensive misunderstanding which led James Kote to handle the ball in the penalty area.
As the game was heading to the final stages, Simba SC were awarded a penalty following Okwi’s master-class which led the Masry’s defender, Koffi to foul him in the 18 yards area, the penalty was taken well by the Ugandan to make it 2-2.
Following that goal, the game turned to Simba’s favor whereby they tried to creat chance after chance. The game stopped then continued 30 minutes later but the results remained the same.
Simba SC have the work to do in the return leg in Cairo on March 17.
