Ribery under fire as Bayern chief confirms altercation with TV reporter

Bayern Munich forward Franck Ribery could find himself in hot water after it was confirmed he was involved in an altercation with a television reporter on Saturday evening.

Bild report that the former France international was angered by the analysis of compatriot Patrick Guillou following Bayern's dramatic 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The newspaper cite witnesses who claim that Ribery struck Guillou on three occasions as he left Signal Iduna Park, with Ribery widely regarded to have been at fault for two of Dortmund's goals.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed to Bild that he was aware of the incident and has already spoken to Guillou - who works for beIN Sports - in a bid to clear the air.

"Franck Ribery has informed us that he had a dispute with his compatriot Patrick Guillou, whom he knows well for many years," he said.

"We agreed with Patrick Guillou on Saturday night that we would promptly speak at a face-to-face meeting about how to get the matter out of the way. Mr. Guillou has already signaled that this is in his interest."

Defeat in the Klassiker for Bayern leaves them seven points behind Dortmund in the Bundesliga title race, with pressure beginning to grow on manager Niko Kovac.

The ex-Eintracht Frankfurt boss has seen his side lose three of their opening 11 league matches, though the club's hierarchy insist that his job is not yet in any danger.

"Our team is in very good condition. The team does not play for the coach, but for Bayern Munich and they do it well," president Uli Hoeness said on Sunday.
