RB Salzburg have confirmed that Mali’s Amadou Haidara will be out of action for at least four months with a knee ligament injury.
Haidara missed Salzburg’s last league outing against Austrian Wien but he was in action for the entire 90 minutes as RB Salzburg defeated Rosenborg 5-2 in their last Uefa Europa League outing earlier this month.
The injury prompted the 20-year-old to withdraw from Mali’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon last week.
Following medical examinations, the Austrian Bundesliga champions announced the period the 20-year-old will spend on the sidelines.
"Haidara suffered a ligament injury and will be out for at least four months and he'll come back stronger,” the club tweeted.
The 2018 Kopa Trophy nominee has notched two goals in 12 league outings for Marco Rose's side who sit at the summit of the Austrian top-flight with 38 points from 12 matches.
Mali have sealed their spot for the 2019 Afcon finals in Cameroon and Haidara will hope to be back in time to feature in the continental showpiece scheduled to hold in June.
