'Nothing else to say!' - Defiant Ramos posts video in attempt to prove he didn't stamp on Sterling

Sergio Ramos has taken to Twitter in order to clear his name after being accused of a stamp during Spain’s 3-2 UEFA Nations League loss to England on Monday.

The Real Madrid defender was alleged to have deliberately stood on Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling, who had netted twice for the Three Lions as they blazed into a 3-0 lead by the break.

However, the 32-year-old has launched his defence on social media, posting a video that would strongly suggest that Sterling had milked the incident and that there was no contact between the players at that moment whatsoever.

Posting in both Spanish and English, he said: “Nothing else to say.”

Ramos has found himself in the spotlight over disciplinary issues regularly throughout a storied career, but since two incidents in the Champions League final, one of which saw Mohamed Salah leave the field prematurely and the other saw Liverpool keeper Loris Karius suffer a concussion, he has come under increased scrutiny.

His performance against England in midweek was marked by a late header which brought further respectability to the scoreline as Spain staged a second-half rally, while he was subject to a fierce early challenge from Eric Dier, which set the tone for the opening period, according to former Three Lions boss Sam Allardyce.

Ramos will return to action with Los Blancos against Levante on Saturday as they attempt to make up ground on Barcelona and leaders Sevilla in the race for the Spanish title.

Under Julen Lopetegui, the European champions have made a comparatively slow star domestically, with four wins from eight outings, plus two defeats to boot.

Their recent form has been especially poor, with no wins in their last four in all competitions and not even a single goal scored.

Prior to the international break, they suffered a stunning 1-0 Champions League loss away to CSKA Moscow then followed that up with a 1-0 defeat to Alaves in La Liga, which has turned up the heat on new boss Lopetegui.
