Pogba braced for 'big one' as Man Utd play host to Wenger's Arsenal one last time

Paul Pogba is preparing for a “big one” against Arsenal, with Manchester United set to play host to Arsene Wenger's Gunners for the last time.

The Red Devils will welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday aware that they can wrap up a top-four finish for 2017-18.

Securing a runner-up spot remains the top priority for Jose Mourinho’s side, but confirming Champions League qualification will represent a step in the right direction.

Wenger will be hoping to put a spanner in the works on his final visit to Manchester as Arsenal manager, and Pogba is aware that United are going to need to be at their best.

A man who has faced criticism for his inconsistent form this season told MUTV: “It’s a big one. We need points.

“They have a big game against Atletico [Madrid] so maybe that might help us if they are a bit tired.

“We know it’s going to be a hard game, it was a very hard game against them earlier in the season. But we had a very good team performance and David [de Gea] was amazing.

“We need that again and we need everybody to be at their best because when that happens it moves the team up [a level]. We’ve been great in the last game with the team performance and against the top teams you always have to produce that.”

United’s last outing saw them come from behind to see off Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley and book their place in the FA Cup final.

Pogba played a leading role in that contest, as he provided the assist for a vital header from Alexis Sanchez, and the £90 million midfielder is looking for more of the same against Arsenal.

He added: “It was an objective of ours to be in the final in the cup. We had a very good result and a very good performance.

“That was the performance we were looking for, and the mentality and the teamwork we are looking for until the end of the season.”

United saw off Arsenal 3-1 in their last meeting at Emirates Stadium back in December.

Mourinho’s men will hold fond memories of that fixture, but Pogba will be looking to right a few wrongs having been sent off for a reckless challenge on Hector Bellerin.
