Manyama is one goal ahead of Ndoro in the race for the Lesley Manyathela award, and Ngoma tells Goal that the former SuperSport man will win the award

Cape Town City winger Aubrey Ngoma believes that his captain Lebogang Manyama has what it takes to walk away with the top goalscorer award this season.

“Lebo still has a goal or two in him from clinching the award and I know that he can do it although it’s going to be tough with our remaining matches left,” Ngoma told Goal.

Breathing down his neck is Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro who is on 12 goals.

The Zimbabwean though last found the back of the net in the 3-2 defeat to Free State Stars in Orkney.

Manyama scored his 13th goal to lead the race for the accolade in Tuesday’s 4-2 defeat to SuperSport United in Atteridgeville.

For his teammate and partner in crime, competition for the Lesley Manyathela award is healthy between the two attackers.

“It’s good competition amongst themselves. They both want to finish as top scorers at the end of the season and whoever takes it would have worked hard for it,” Ngoma said.

Furthermore, Ngoma says they have not given up on the league despite their latest set-back and are confident of achieving their third place target.

“We haven’t given up on the league. It’s just that based on the situation we are in now, we don’t have first and second place in our hands,” Ngoma continued.

“We have to rely on other people. So, for us to say we have had a good season,” Ngoma added.

The former Orlando Pirates man will be back in action when they welcome Golden Arrows next Wednesday after missing Tuesday’s showdown through suspension.
