Mexicans Abroad: Chicharito scores again for West Ham, Salcedo returns for Frankfurt

Don't call it a comeback. Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has been doing this for years.

The West Ham United forward missed a large portion of the season with a virus and issues recovering from the illness. He's back in business, for the Hammers, though, helping them to a three-match winning streak. That includes Saturday's 3-2 win over Crystal Palace, a match in which Chicharito scored the second goal.

Palace forgot to mark Chicharito after Felipe Anderson's free kick, and the 30-year-old El Tri forward jumped onto the rebound and put in the goal to put West Ham ahead. He's now scored four goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season.

Raul Jimenez, the other Mexican player in the Premier League, is also on a hot streak with his club, Wolves. They've won the last two matches, and Jimenez played a role in both. He scored against Chelsea during the week, his fourth goal in 16 games, and came on at the hour mark of Sunday's 2-1 win against Newcastle United.

After a long absence from the field with another injury, Carlos Salcedo was back in the Eintracht Frankfurt starting lineup Saturday. It was his first start since Sept. 1, but the 25-year-old defender couldn't help his team to a win. Hertha topped Frankfurt, 1-0. Frankfurt plays a Europa League match Thursday, but don't look for Salcedo to be involved. He wasn't registered for the squad after the injury.

PSV's quest for an undefeated league campaign ended last weekend but the reigning Dutch champion bounced back with force. Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutierrez both started in a 6-0 victory against Excelsior. Guti ended the day with a pair of assists, while Lozano made way after 72 minutes with the team's Champions League finale against Inter looming on Tuesday. PSV is still looking for its first group-stage win in the tournament.

Andres Guardado will miss several more weeks of action with a left hamstring tear, so he didn't take part in Real Betis' 2-0 win Sunday over Rayo Vallecano. There were Mexicans in action in La Liga, though. Nestor Araujo lined up at center back in Celta de Vigo's 3-2 triumph over Villarreal. Miguel Layun didn't make the Yellow Submarine's squad. Real Sociedad slipped up against Real Valladolid, with Hector Moreno playing all 90 minutes as the left center back.

Diego Reyes didn't make the trip with Fenerbahce to take on Akhisarspor - though he's probably glad he didn't. After a 3-0 defeat that knocked the team into the relegation zone, the club's owner reportedly canceled the team's return flight and made players take a bus back to Istanbul.

The Jesus Corona at right back experiment continues for Porto, and seems to be working fine. The Dragons won 4-1 in league action against Portimonense, with Hector Herrera entering the match as a substitute. Antonio "Pollo" Briseno started for Feirense in a 1-0 win over Maritimo.
