Messi, Kane and Ronaldo will contest Golden Boot - Pirlo

The legendary former World Cup winner believes the three hottest marksmen in Europe right now will be in contention to be top scorer in Russia

Former Italy international Andrea Pirlo believes Europe’s hottest three forwards will fight it out for the Golden Boot at World Cup 2018.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo saw their hegemony over Europe’s scoring charts ended by Harry Kane in 2017, as the Tottenham man finished the calendar year as the continent’s top marksman.

But regardless of who finds the net most often in Russia, Pirlo is among those simply looking forward to the spectacle.

“I think there are the usual names: from Messi to Ronaldo and Kane,” he told Goal at Monday’s launch of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca Cola.

“But the important thing is that it's a good show.”

Check out the video above to hear which teams Pirlo is looking forward to seeing and how he feels about Italy missing out on the big show.
