Meddie Kagere on target as Simba SC clinch Community Shield in Tanzania

Former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere continued with his fine form in new club Simba SC after guiding them to their first silverware on Saturday.

The Rwandan, who ditched the Kenyan side in June for the Tanzanian outfit, was on target as Simba edged out Mtibwa 2-1 to bag the Community Shield. The experienced forward used his pace and strength to beat defender Hassan Isihaki in the half hour mark, before hitting the back of the net with a fierce strike.

However, five minutes later, it was 1-1 as Kelvin Sabato's strike beat the keeper with the help of the woodwork, but new man Hassan Dilunga capitalized on a perfect pass by Ugandan Emmanuel Okwi to hit what turned out to be the winner.

Kagere's success is definitely rubbing the sixteen-time Kenyan Premier League champions in a bad way after they refused to hand him a pay rise when his contract expired. The striker is reportedly earning a Sh500, 000 per month salary, and is expected to help his new side roar in the Tanzanian top tier.
