The 18-year-old has been the breakout story of the 2016-17 campaign, with his exploits at Monaco capturing the imagination and drawing universal acclaim.

Now considered to be one of the hottest prospects in world football, the youngster has gone from being a virtual unknown to a Ligue 1 title winner, Champions League goalscorer and senior international star.

There is also the promise of plenty more to come, be that at Monaco or at one of those on a growing list of suitors – with the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester United already in the hunt.

Supporters of those respective clubs were quick to talk up his value on social media after a star showing in a 3-2 victory over England, while his potential continues to amaze those tipping him to reach the very top.

Mbappe was handed just his second start for France against the Three Lions, and only his fourth cap, and came agonisingly close to opening his goal account when he struck the crossbar in the second half.
