Mathare United youngster, Francis Omondi is eager to kick-start his career at the ‘Slum boys’ in a spectacular fashion in the season on Sunday.

Omondi, who joined the Mathare United January from second-tier side Modern Coast Rangers, may make his KPL debut at the Bukhungu Stadium when Mathare visit debutants Vihiga United on Sunday.

“I am happy with the preseason training that we have had. The competition in the team is very high and this has helped me to get into good shape. I am looking forward to a great season ahead,” said Omondi.

Having played against Vihiga United in the National Super League (NSL) last season, Omondi is bracing for the tricky away fixture even as he remains cognizant of the hostile environment awaiting at Bukhungu tomorrow.

“Vihiga United enjoy a lot of support from their fans at home and they try to make it difficult for their opponents. We have prepared very well mentally so I know we will cope well. I hope to score if I get the chance to play,” he added.

Mathare United will be looking to improve on our dismal away record that saw them win only one away fixture last season.
