Match Preview: Njombe Mji vs Simba SC

Following their Confederation cup defeat by Stand United on March 30, Njombe Mji will play hosts to Simba on Tuesday in the Vodacom Premier League game at the Samora Stadium.

After hosting Simba, Njombe Mji will face three away matches against Stand United (April 8), Mbao FC (April 11) and Azam FC (April 15) in a space of twelve days, a run of fixtures which could shape their season.

The Njombe based side is among three relegated bound clubs with 18 points, two above bottom club Maji Maji.

They have won just once in their past five games, drawing twice and losing two times.

Speaking to Goal, Njombe Mji’s spokesman Hassan Macho said that they have to put in extra effort in order to avoid the drop.

He said that they have to face the coming fixtures with a lot of respect and with purpose so as to get some points which will be key to their survival hopes.

“We have a purpose which is to stay in the premier league, so the coming matches will be very important for us and we will face them with a lot of respect” said Macho.

In the first game between the two teams which was held in Dar es Salaam, Njombe Mji was well defeated by 4-0 scoreline.

Elsewhere, Simba who were eliminated from the CAF Confederation and Federation Cups have their hopes of glory solely focused on the premier league.

Currently they are leading the table with 46 points ahead of their arch rivals Yanga only on goal difference, but Simba have a game in hand.

Heading to this game, Simba will be boosted by the return of their key midfielder Jonas Mkude who joined the squad in the preparations for this game returning from a knock he sustained in training last week.

Rwandese midfielder Haruna Niyonzima and central defender Salim Mbonde who were the long absentees due to injuries have also resumed training but are unlikely to feature in this match.

Wekundu wa Msimbazi have tricky fixtures on the road ahead, after visiting Njombe Mji, they will have travel to Morogoro to play against Mtibwa Sugar on April 9, and will next return to Iringa to face Lipuli on April 20.
