Manchester United continue woeful home form with defeat to Juventus

Manchester United have continued their extended run of poor form at Old Trafford with Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Juventus.

The Red Devils were devoid of inspiration in the Champions League clash, falling to the Italian champions through Paulo Dybala's first-half winner.

With the defeat, United have now lost four of their last 13 home matches in all competitions, which equals the number of home losses in their previous 81 fixtures.

Jose Mourinho's side began the run with losses to Sevilla and West Brom last season, and have now been defeated by Tottenham and Juve at Old Trafford this year.

There have also been several disappointing draws at Old Trafford this season, with Wolves and Valencia taking points off United and Derby County knocking the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup with a shootout win.

United's listless performance on Tuesday led to harsh criticism from club legends Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes.

Scholes had only just begun to become a United regular the last time the Red Devils fell at home to Juve in the Champions League – a 1-0 result in November 1996.

United have now failed to score in consecutive home Champions League matches, which has not happened since November 2005.

Tuesday's defeat also saw United register their lowest shot total (6) in a home Champions League game since April 2014 against Bayern Munich.

United will look to put together an improved display at home on Sunday, when they host Everton at Old Trafford in a Premier League fixture.
