Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Zambian teenager Lameck Banda is currently on trial with the club as he looks to earn a move to Chloorkop.

The Zambia under-17 international striker is seen as one of the most promising talents and is currently on the books of Zambian Premier League outfit Nkwazi FC.

However, Banda has been in South Africa for the past few weeks training with Masandawana in hope of landing his next big move.

Recent reports in local media suggest that Banda has impressed the Tshwane giants' technical team and that he is closing in on a deal, but while the club has acknowledged the presence of Banda, according to club spokesman Thulani Thuswa, Sundowns are yet to complete their assessment of the starlet.

“He is on trial, but the technical team is yet to make a full assessment,” Thuswa told Goal.

Furthermore, Thuswa stated that Pitso Mosimane and his team has not been able to conduct a full assessment due to the hectic schedule they have had to contend with in recent times, but a decision could be made in the not so distant future.

Sundowns will be keen to land another striker considering their goalscoring woes, and with Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro likely to be heading towards the exit door, Banda could just be the long-term replacement which they require.
