FIFA ruled Florent Malouda to be ineligible for the Gold Cup. On Tuesday night, French Guiana started him anyway.
After not playing in the team's first match against Canada the former France international was included in French Guiana's lineup against Honduras, wearing the captain's armband for its second match of the tournament.
Malouda would go on to play the full match as French Guiana secured a 0-0 draw with Honduras, but the result is likely to be amended. According to CONCACAF regulations, Honduras will likely be awarded a 3-0 win via forfeit.
Following the game, CONACAF released a statement saying the matter had been referred to its disciplinary committee.
"In regards to the election of the French Guiana national team to field player Florent Malouda in this evening's Gold Cup match against the Honduras national team ... the matter has been referred to the CONCACAF Gold Cup Disciplinary Committee," the statement read.
"The Disciplinary Committee will review the case and render its decision in due time."

Malouda, 37, was capped for France nearly 80 times and played in two World Cups. Despite being born in French Guiana, FIFA ruled him ineligible for the Gold Cup because of its rules against representing more than one country in official competitions.
French Guiana, which has been an associate member of CONCACAF since 1991 and a full member since 2013, is taking part in the continental championship for the first time and included the former Chelsea winger in its final 23-man squad.
French Guiana is classified as an overseas region and department of France, and therefore is not a FIFA member and is ineligible to qualify for the World Cup.
