AC Milan tried to sign Nabil Fekir from Betis before the transfer window closed this month.

Diario de Sevilla reports Betis were demanding around €40 million (£36m/$47m) for the 27-year-old, but Milan could not come close with their bid, instead offering to take him on loan with an option to buy next summer.

Southampton loan Gunn to Stoke


Angus Gunn has joined Stoke on loan from Southampton.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper will spend the remainder of the season with the Championship side, who sold Jack Butland to Crystal Palace on Friday.

Fulham sign Kongolo


Terence Kongolo has joined Fulham for an undisclosed fee, it has been confirmed.

The centre-back signed a four-year contract with the Premier League side. Kongolo joined Fulham on loan in January but his spell at Craven Cottage was cut short due to injury.

Werder Bremen star Milot Rashica will move to Bayer Leverkusen in January, reports Bild

Instead, the Kosovo winger will link up with his new side in 2021.

Roma are ready to swoop in for Elseid Hysaj in January if the full-back does not extend his Napoli contract, according to Calciomercato.

Woodburn completes Blackpool move


Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn has completed a move to Blackpool, the Reds announced.

Woodburn will spend the season playing under Neil Critchley, the former Liverpool Academy coach who now manages the League One club. 

The 21-year-old forward has previously spent time on loan at Sheffield United and Oxford United.

USMNT's Aaronson signs for RB Salzburg in multi-million dollar transfer


Philadelphia Union star Brenden Aaronson has signed with RB Salzburg, the club announced on Friday.

The midfielder will join the Austrian side at the end of the MLS season after the Union completed a club-record deal.

Chelsea were close to signing Lionel Messi from Barcelona in 2014, Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed in his new book Grand Hotel Calciomercato. 

Based on excerpts from the book, Messi was tempted to leave Barca following allegations of tax evasion and even had a constructive FaceTime call with then Blues manager Jose Mourinho. 

Chelsea were ready to activate the Argentine's €250 million release clause and pay him a net salary of £50m but Messi ultimately got cold feet after a call from his father, who was against the move.
