Hysaj could have joined Chelsea - agent

The agent for Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj has defended his client from criticism by noting he could have joined Chelsea over the summer.

The Albania international has been a locked-in starter under Maurizio Sarri for years, first linking up with the manager at Empoli in Serie B and helping the club earn eventual promotion to Serie A.

With Sarri leaving Napoli last summer and joining Chelsea, Hysaj could have followed his old manager again, according to his agent, if not for president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has admitted he had multiple offers to leave the club over the summer, but insists he remains happy to be with the Bundesliga champions.

Lewandowski made no secret of his desire to leave the Allianz Arena during the off-season, with reports suggesting the Poland international was keen to join Real Madrid.

Though it seems the Blancos were less keen to reciprocate in terms of an offer despite the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewandowski has insisted there were clubs interested in his services, though he knew Bayern were unlikely to allow him to leave.

AC Milan have a "basic agreement" with Flamengo to bring attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta to San Siro, general manager Leonardo has revealed.

The Brazilian side's director of sport Carlos Noval shot down reports that Milan had agreed a €35 million (£30.6m)/$40.5m) deal to sign the 21-year-old in January amid suggestions Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

Atlanta United's president Darren Eales has brushed off speculation that the club has reached a deal to sell Miguel Almiron to Arsenal this winter. 

Reports surfaced last week that the midfielder would be sold to the Gunners, but the MLS side says no such deal exists. 

“You’ve made it when they start to make up quotes from you," Eales said to 92.9 The Game. "One was they called me Eagles and the other was the $11 million (£8m) fee. It would take triple that to even get out of bed to look at offers for Almiron.”
