New SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has opened up about his departure from Orlando Pirates.

Mahachi joined Matsatsantsa from Pirates alongside striker Thamsanqa Gabuza last month, having struggled under Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic during his single season with the club.

The Zimbabwe international explained he left the Soweto giants because he wanted regular game time.

“For me, the important thing is to play football so when I move to SuperSport it was about playing,” Mahachi told Phakaaathi.

“When they told me that SuperSport wants me I jumped at the opportunity, as you know at Pirates there is too much competition and I wanted to play football so I had to take the decision.

Mahachi made 11 appearances for Pirates in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and he found the back of the net three times in the process.

The 25-year-old player, who was once of the books of Mamelodi Sundowns, does not believe that he failed at Bucs.

“I didn’t feel like I failed at Pirates because SuperSport United is also a big team," the former AS Monaco trialist added.

"But I was a bit disappointed at the same time that I didn’t do more than what I wanted to do when I got to Pirates from Lamontville Golden Arrows."

Mahachi made his debut for SuperSport when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sundowns in their opening 2019/20 PSL match.

The left-footed player and his SuperSport teammates will face Pirates in a league match at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday.
