Fabio bemused by KL's Jekyll and Hyde performance

Kuala Lumpur have yet to get a point on the road after another disappointing away performance in the 3-0 reverse at the hands of Perak on Sunday.

Kuala Lumpur slumped to a dismal 3-0 defeat away to Perak on Sunday, dropping to 10th in the league standings after seven round of matches and Fabio Maciel is perturbed as to why his team is struggling on the road.

This was their third defeat in as many league away matches played this season. Compared that with their home form of two wins, a draw and one defeat - it's a disparity that is worrying for the head coach who guided his team up from the Premier League last season.

Having beaten the likes of serial trophy winners in Johor Darul Ta'zim and Kedah in the league this season, to a performance like Sunday's where KL hardly put up a challenge to Perak side, is one that is very baffling.

"Tonight we are not in the game. It's a game for us to forget. We came from one game where we were fantastic against Selangor to this one. But we have to learn from this and keep our head up because we have another game on Wednesday."

"We have already proven that we have a team that fight for top 6 or 7. We have taken the game to arguably the top 3 teams in Malaysia. But tonight isn't one of our best. It's still a long time to go in the season and we cannot drop points like this.

"It's starting to look like so. Against Negeri, PKNP and Perak - we do not play our game. When we play at home against strong team, we can play fantastic. When we play away, we make a lot of mistakes. So of course it's a big concern and something we have to think about," Fabio told Goal.

In the match at Perak Stadium, KL conceded through a first half penalty before the Gilmar Filho-Wander Luiz double act in the second half, put the game to bed. Midway through the first half, Fabio moved Irfan Zakaria from a midfield position to the heart of the defence as he looked to stop the threat of the home side.

"The strong points of Perak. The number 10, Wander. He don't come to the middle to collect the ball. They put a diagonal ball to Gilmar to prepare for him and Gilmar put the ball behind for Wander. So I told Irfan that without ball, to step back a little bit," explained Fabio.

Back in the comforts of the KLFA Stadium in Tuesday's fixture against PKNS FC, Fabio and his team mates are expected to show the better side of their game once again.

But if KL do not find the right balance between their home and away performance soon, they could well be staring at a short-lived reappearance in the country's top division.
