Kane joins Adebayor as most prolific marksman in north London derbies

Tottenham striker Harry Kane now sits alongside Emmanuel Adebayor as the most prolific Premier League marksman in north London derbies.

The Spurs star has made a habit of netting against the Gunners down the years, and was back to haunt them in his most recent outing.

Famously released by Arsenal as a youngster, the England captain has spent his professional career to date making them pay for that decision.

Kane was on target again on Sunday as Tottenham made the short trip to Emirates Stadium.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring in that contest from the spot , but Eric Dier had Spurs level by the half-hour mark.

Shortly after that, Kane was presented with his chance to turn the tie on its head.

He duly delivered, with a fierce spot-kick crashed past Bernd Leno after Rob Holding had brought down Heung Min Son inside the box.

Kane now has eight derby efforts to his name, and nobody in the Premier League era can claim to have bettered that haul.

Kane sits alongside Adebayor at the top of the charts, with the Togolese having represented both Arsenal and Tottenham in his career.

Spurs’ current talisman will expected to hit the summit by himself at some point in the near future.

To put his record in derby clashes into perspective, Thierry Henry only managed five efforts in his meeting with Tottenham down the years.

Robin van Persie also got five for Arsenal, while Gareth Bale offered the same return for Spurs.

Robert Pires now sits alone in second spot on the chart, with the Frenchman having delivered an impressive haul of seven strikes during his time in north London.
