Kakamega Homeboyz: Why we lost against Gor Mahia

Kakamega Homeboyz lost 3-1 to Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League match on Monday.

Innocent Wafula, Francis Mustapha and Kevin Omondi were on target for the defending champions, with Benjamin Oketch scoring the consolation for the visitors. Homeboyz head coach Paul Nkata has told Goal why his side fell to the Dylan Kerr coached team.

“Inexperience of my players played a huge role for my team, we missed about seven key players because of different reasons and we had to field the younger ones. Like the first two goals we conceded, they came because of poor defending, we could have done better.

“We did not field any known striker, we had to do with a makeshift squad. We improved in the second half, scored a goal and tried to push for an equalizer but failed. They, Gor Mahia, were tactically good and we could not match them.”

Homeboyz will now have to prepare for their next outing against Vihiga United.
