After failing to cement a permanent place at Naturena, Amakhosi are believed to be considering a loan deal for the midfielder

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Buchanan is reportedly heading out on a loan deal when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 25-year-old who joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2016/2017 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season has failed to cement a permanent berth in Steve Komphela’s squad as injuries and stiff competition has hampered his progression at the club.

Since joining Chiefs from Bloemfontein Celtic, Buchanan has only made a handful of appearances with the likes of George Maluleka, Willard Katsande and Hendrick Ekstein limiting his game time. The Soweto giants also recently promoted youngster Wiseman Meyiwa, leaving Buchanan to fall even further down the ladder at Naturena.

Nonetheless, it is believed that Buchanan is seeking a move away from Chiefs in search of regular playing time, and according to reports by Sport24 he could finally get his wish. With Chiefs currently having an abundance of midfielders within their ranks reports suggest that Buchanan is likely to be shipped out on loan when the transfer window opens in the new year, with Maritzburg United his most likely destination.
