Kerala Blasters and Manjapada have been busy with disaster relief work in the state but the squad has had to shift base to Ahmedabad for training...

The catastrophic floods that hit Kerala have forced Kochi-based Indian Super League (ISL) team Kerala Blasters to shift camp to TransStadia in Ahmedabad for their pre-season training.

Blasters were supposed to start training for the new season in Kochi on August 20 but the calamity has left them with no other choice, due to both safety and practical reasons. After their training stint in TransStadia, the club is expected to fly to Thailand for pre-season friendlies.

The disaster has taken away more than 300 lives in a fortnight and there are over one million people in 3,274 relief camps set up across the state as of August 21. Football clubs from across the country and from outside India have offered their support.

Liverpool CEO promised help after supporters' club Kerala Reds sought help through social media. East Bengal's Kerala contingent Joby Justin and K Mirshad not only donated towards the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund but also sought help from the supporters after their Calcutta Football League (CFL) match against Aryan Club.

Blasters and their supporters group Manjappada have also come together to collect essential materials and supply it to relief camps.
