Jamshedpur FC midfielder Sergio Cidoncha is out of action due to a knee injury. The Spaniard is currently receiving treatment in Spain.

Cidoncha did not feature in Jamshedpur’s eighth round clash against FC Pune City in Pune. After the match, a representative of the club confirmed the news about the player’s injury.

"Cidoncha has a knee injury and he is currently in Spain for treatment. After a week, the club will speak to the doctors and come to know the status of his injury," said the club official.

Cidoncha, who operates in the attacking midfield role just behind the striker, is one of the top goal scorers of Jamshedpur FC in Indian Super League (ISL) season five. He has netted thrice and provided three assists in seven outings.

A vital cog in Cesar Ferrando’s system, his ability to hold the ball coupled with his inch-perfect passing has been key to Jamshedpur’s attractive style of play. His absence will definitely hurt the team’s cause in the coming few weeks.

The 27-year-old Spaniard came up through the youth ranks of Collado Villalba and Atletico Madrid. Between 2009 and 2013, he played for Atletico Madrid’s B and C teams before signing for Real Zaragoza on loan in 2013. He spent his last four years at Albacete Balompie and Ponferradina in Spain’s second and third tier respectively prior to signing with the Jamshedpur-based club.
