ISL 2017: NorthEast United to begin pre-season on September 27

Indian Super League (ISL) side NorthEast United FC are set to begin their pre-season training on September 27, Goal has learnt. Joao De Deus and company will assemble in Imphal, Manipur for ten days to a fortnight before heading off to Turkey.

The Highlanders are set to play a charity match against NEROCA FC with whom they have formed a five-year strategic partnership to develop football in the state of Manipur and surrounding regions.

After training in Imphal, the club shall undergo the second half of the pre-season in Turkey where they are expected to play a few friendly matches.

NorthEast United are one of the only two franchises in the ISL who have failed to qualify for the knockout rounds in the last three editions.

Fans would hope that this time around the club can do justice to the massive fan following it enjoys in the northeastern region.
