Former France national team manager Raymond Domenech has backed Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe for a place at next summer's World Cup.

The 18-year-old striker has burst onto the scene this season, scoring 10 times in Ligue 1 for Monaco and helping the club to first place in the league.

Mbappe has represented France at the U-17 and U-19 levels, and could get his first senior call-up on Thursday when Didier Deschamps reveals his latest squad.

Speaking to Goal while taking part in the Winamax Poker Tour 2017, Domenech said he believes the teenage star could go to Russia with Les Bleus in 2018.

"He has talent, it is undeniable," Domenech said. "He has real potential and I bet he will be in Russia."

Though Domenech is betting on Mbappe representing France at the World Cup, he believes Deschamps needs to keep the pressure on the teenager by not promising him anything.

"A young man who has never been called and everyone says he has to be there – he starts to believe it, but it is the coach who decides," Domenech said.

"If he (Deschamps) says 'do not worry, I'll take you later', the pressure effect that Didier can put on him would no longer have any use."
