He has no problem – Stone defends Makinwa despite ABS' form

In light of their less impressive outputs, the Saraki Boys forward has backed his gaffer, hailing his approach to the round leather game

Evbuomwan Stone has jumped to the defence of his coach, Henry Makinwa despite ABS' poor run of form in the Nigerian topflight.

A defeat at the hands of Rivers United in midweek meant the side's winless run in the league stretched to six games.

But the forward lauds the former Nigeria international's approach to the game while insisting that their inexperience has been their greatest undoing.

“I often don’t like talking about Nigerian coaches because anytime you do, they think you’re bigger,” Stone told Goal.

“Though I’ve played under a lot of coaches – both here and abroad, but for Makinwa, he has his own coaching philosophy and that’s what I love about him.

“Whatever he wants from you – he wants a hundred percent from his players and you have to give him what he wants.

“I think his mentality towards the game is very nice. He is a high profile coach. He just needs the kind of players that he wants for his philosophy and I believe results will start coming.

“We are just unfortunate that we have younger boys who are inexperience to the league. I don’t think the coach has any problem. His philosophy is quite good for me," he concluded.
