Harambee Starlets forward Esse Akida is optimistic the national team will qualify for the Awcon.
The attacker came in as a second half substitute to score the winning goal as Kenya downed Equatorial Guinea 2-1 in the first leg of the final qualification round. With the second leg coming in the next 48 hours, the Starlets need at least a draw to progress.
“We wanted to get bigger margin but the good thing we won as a team, and we just want to go there (Equatorial Guinea) and ensure we get a result that will enable us to qualify. It is not going to be easy for sure but we have what it takes to qualify for the tournament.
“It is about tactics and discipline on the pitch, we have faith,” Akida told Goal.
The second leg set to be played on June 9, 2018, at the Estadio Nkoantoma de Bata in Equatorial Guinea’s port city with the aggregate winner booking a place in the 2019 Awcon to be staged in Cameroon.
