Griezmann hoping to 'sleep with the cup' after France's World Cup triumph

Les Bleus were inspired to glory on Sunday by the Atletico Madrid striker, who now plans to sleep with the trophy

Antoine Griezmann plans to take the World Cup trophy to bed with him as he looks forward to a triumphant return to France.

Atletico Madrid star Griezmann scored one from the penalty spot and had a hand in two more goals as France defeated Croatia 4-2 in Sunday's final to be crowned world champions for a second time.

And the 27-year-old was already making plans for the trip back to his homeland to celebrate the victory after acknowledging a tough clash against Croatia.

"I don't know where I am! I'm so happy," Griezmann told TF1 .

"Croatia played a great game. It was a hard game for us as we started slowly.

"We made the difference little by little on the counter. It's such a pleasure.

"We can't wait to bring the cup back to France. To score in the final makes me so happy.

"I hesitated to do a Panenka [with the penalty]. I hope to sleep with the cup."
