The speedy right-back has returned to Abafana Bes’thende on loan to get regular game time under coach Clinton Larsen

After returning from a loan stint at Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns defender Siyanda Zwane has been shipped out to Golden Arrows.

Although coach Clinton Larsen is unsure whether or not they have signed the former Abafana Bes’thende defender, the Tshwane giants have clarified the player’s situation.

The right-back has struggled for game time at Sundowns under coach Pitso Mosimane and was loaned out to Ajax Cape Town last season.

As per procedure, the Maritzburg-born defender returned to Chloorkop ahead of the new 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, but he has been sent to Durban as he may struggle to compete against Thapelo Morena and Anele Ngcongca.

Zwane has returned to Arrows, a club where he made his name back in 2005 as he went on to spend nine years at Arrows before moving to Sundowns in 2014.

He was the part of the team that lifted the MTN8 Cup trophy back in 2009 where they beat the Urban Warriors under the guidance of Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

Speaking to IOL, Larsen confirmed Zwane’s presence in their camp, but could not confirm whether they have signed him or not.

"Siyanda Zwane is with us. I'm not too sure whether we've signed him or he is on loan,” Larsen told IOL.

“I think you have to phone our office to find out whether he has signed permanently or he is on loan," he added.

On the other hand, Sundowns media officer Thulani Thuswa clarified the defender’s situation, saying he has been loaned out to the club.

"He has been loaned at Arrows so that he can get more game time," Thuswa confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Durban-based side will lock horns against bitter rivals Maritzburg United in the Premier's Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The pre-season tournament will be staged at the Princess Magogo Stadium where the defender could feature for Arrows.

Zwane, who was loaned out to the Mother City side alongside Yannick Zakri, played 15 games in all competitions, but could not save the club as they were relegated to the National First Division (NFD).
