Augsburg defender Kevin Danso is the latest Ghana target to be competitively capped by a European side during the international break.

The 18-year old was a first-half substitute for Austria, replacing injured Sebastian Prodl on 27 minutes, as the Das Team succumbed to a 1-0 away defeat to Wales in 2018 World Cup qualifying on Saturday.

The development comes three days after Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah made his competitive appearance for the Netherlands in their 4-0 reversal to France in World Cup qualifying on Thursday.

Uncapped new Chelsea recruit Ethan Ampadu, however, failed to get his first cap for Wales as he was an unused substitute in Saturday's game against Austria.

Also eligible to represent England, Ireland and Ghana, the 16-year-old could end the international tussle for his services when Chris Coleman’s outfit face Moldova on September 5 in World Cup qualifying.

A competitive outing effectively rules out a player from switching international allegiance.

The three players have long been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association.

Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah, who has revealed plans of beefing up his squad with foreign-born players, will now turn his attention to the likes of Netherlands under-21 defender Derrick Luckassen, Spain youth star Inaki Williams, German-born Gideon Jung and Italy under-21 right-back Claud Adjapong.
