Ghana Premier League delay frustrates Medeama coach Boadu

Exclusive: The Yellow and Mauve boss admits he is not happy with the legal tussle between the football association and Great Olympics

Medeama coach Samuel Boadu says he is highly disappointed with the continuous delay of the Ghana Premier League new season.

After a successful congress and launch, Great Olympics placed an injunction on the league’s commencement following the dismissal of their protests against Elmina Sharks and Bechem United over an alleged use of unqualified players.

A ruling in favour of the Wonder Club will save them from relegation, moving from 14th position to 13th on the log.

"I'm very disappointed and the delay won't affect only Medeama but all the clubs in the country that will participate in the league," Boadu told Goal.

"Things are currently not sustainable at various clubs because everyone will be preparing for a long time and then notice will be issued that the league can’t start due to an injunction. All the clubs are not happy," he added.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the new season, Boadu has set sights on finishing in the top four after the campaign.

"I have relatively young and new players around so we're trying to blend them with the few old players in order to have a successful season when everything is over," he said.

"It's our aim to at least finish among the top four after the season and we believe this is not something beyond us. We will work hard and make sure there is a telepathy between the players before the season kicks off," he added.

Goal understands that Ghana FA were in court on Wednesday but Great Olympics failed to turn up after seeking an adjournment because their lawyer Kwesi Austin was not feeling well and attached an excuse duty.

The final verdict is however expected to be announced on March 15.
