Former Platinum Stars forward Robert Ng'ambi waiting on offers

Former Platinum Stars midfielder Robert Ng'ambi says he is yet to receive any offers in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), but is open to a move as he still wants to further his career.

The Malawian midfielder revealed to Goal on Friday night that he has just returned from Northern Cyprus where he trained with Genclik Gucu TSK and might go back to sign on the dotted line.

“There is nothing happening for me right now because I have just got back from Cyprus and I trained with a club there,” Ng'ambi told Goal.

“It was good and I am just back to sort a few things, I will then call them when they come back from Turkey for their camp,” he said.

“I know their league in Cyprus is not that competitive, but I learned a lot and would like to join them and continue to explore a few things in a different environment,” added Ng'ambi.

“I am a free agent now so I will see what happens in the PSL, there is nothing so far because I have five days in the country,” concluded the former Black Leopards player.

After launching his PSL career at Lidoda Duvha in 2005, he was snapped up by Dikwena in 2011 where he became one of their star performers and netted crucial goals.

Ng'ambi helped Dikwena to the Telkom Knockout Cup and MTN8 Cup titles in 2013 and also gained recognition for being one of the best midfielders in the top tier.

Following their cup double five seasons ago, he was linked with moves to Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, but the 31-year-old opted to stay in Rustenburg until the end of the past term.

However, he parted ways with the former Phokeng-based club at the end of the 2017/18 PSL season as they were relegated to the National First Division (NFD) before the club changed its name to Cape Umoya United and relocated to Stellenbosch.

Born in Blantyre, Ng'ambi has represented the Flames in over 60 international matches and netted eight times.
