Bonface Ambani doesn’t believe that firing and hiring of Harambee Stars coaches will sort out mess at the national team.
Football Kenya Federation, on Wednesday relieved caretaker coach, Stanley Okumbi and his entire technical bench of their duties after a dismal performance in the Fifa international week.
Harambee Stars soaked in five goals, three of which came from a 3-2 defeat by the Central African Republic on Tuesday.
Stars had previously been held to a 2-2 draw by Comoros last Saturday, a result that left the federation with very little option but to redeploy Okumbi to handle the U-20 side.
But former international, Ambani, who holds Kenyan Premier League record of highest goals scored in a single season, is not convinced that the change of coaches will sort out the mess.
“Sacking Harambee Stars entire technical bench is like a game of musical chairs. It leaves the stakeholders and fans thinking we are now fixing the mess. No. We aren't!” observed Ambani.
To correct the mess at the National team, Ambani says, Kenya should first fix her infrastructure, leadership at both FKF, Kenyan Premier down to the clubs and finally the sports ministry.
"I always wish we could fix our stadiums all over the country, clubs’ leadership, FKF office, KPL, Sports docket at the ministry...Harambee Stars will fix itself.”
