EXTRA TIME: Didier Drogba named French Ligue 1 ambassador

Didier Drogba has been named as an ambassador for the Ligue de Football Professionnel – the body that run the major professional football leagues in France.

The ex-Cote d’Ivoire international joins former France international and 1998 World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff in carrying out ambassadorial duties as they will both be participating in international events, trophy ceremonies and other events organised by the LFP.

Drogba will also represent the Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Championnat National and the Coupe de la Ligue in international events.

The 39-year-old who plies his trade in the United Soccer League with Phoenix Rising played for Le Mans, Guingamp and Marseille in France before joining Chelsea in July 2004 where he won four English Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one Uefa Champions League diadem.
