Harambee Starlets have been eliminated from the 2018 Awcon after falling 2-0 (3-1) to Equatorial Guinea in the second leg of the final qualification round.
The David Ouma led side won the first leg 2-1 and they needed a draw to progress to the continental showdown to be held in Ghana in November this year, but things did not go as planned.
Hopes of playing in the finals are now with the Confederations of African Football, Caf, after the FKF lodged a complaint regarding the fielding of three 'ineligible' players by Equatorial Guinea.
In a letter signed by Federation's CEO Robert Muthomi, Kenya argued that Celestine Basecu and Annette Msomo nationalities are questionable, while Luz Obono was not registered when Starlets played the West African side in the first leg.
But until then, Starlets will have to watch the Awcon this year from home, alongside Uganda's Cresten Cranes who they eliminated after 1-0 aggregate win.
