We have reached the international break in the Premier League, and with the World Cup just two months away, it’s time to review how the betting landscape has changed.

After a dramatic start to the season that saw Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United tested early on, the “Big Six” still occupy six of the top eight spots in the table. Brighton is the lone outsider to breach the top four heading into the break.

Due to the poor start of Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool, Manchester City are now booked as a massive favorite to repeat as Premier League champions. That said, the board has plenty of value, especially on the Gunners (+120), due to their early outstanding play.

English Premier League Favorite To Win

Manchester City (-375)

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have had their share of hiccups early in the Premier League season. However, they are still sitting strong at second in the table, scoring a league-leading 23 goals with a plus-17 goal differential.

The Sky Blues are one of only two undefeated teams in the EPL, and seem to get more and more dangerous as Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland get more comfortable with each other.

English Premier League Contenders To Win

Arsenal (+1000)

Mikel Arteta and the Gunners have come out of the gate on fire, scoring 17 goals and sitting at the top of the Premier League table.

However, it should be noted that much of Arsenal’s success has come at the expense of teams not expected to challenge for a top-six spot. In fact, when given their first “true” test of the season, the Gunners fell 3-1 to Manchester United.

Arsenal has a formidable attack led by Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka, while captain Martin Ødegaard has been outstanding thus far.

The addition of Jesus during the transfer window has allowed Martinelli to roam into threatening positions on the pitch more often, further opening up the Gunners' attack.

Arsenal may be a sharp bet to win the Premier League at +1000, but one has to question how they will hold up over the full season. I would bet on a top-four finish.

Tottenham (+1600)

When healthy, Harry Kane is one of the most dangerous strikers in football. Unfortunately for the Premier League this season, Harry Kane is healthy. The 29-year-old has found the back of the net six times already.

That said, one of the primary question marks in the early season has been the lack of production from Son Heung-min. Heading into Matchweek 8, the reigning Golden Boot winner had yet to score a goal and was even removed from the starting XI during Tottenham’s latest match against Leicester City.

However, Son would enter the match as a second-half substitute and end his scoring drought in style by securing a hat trick in just 14 minutes.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski has played inspired football, creating scoring chances for Spurs on a regular basis, and newcomer Richarlison has displayed flashes of brilliance.

Antonio Conte has his side playing at a top level heading into the international break, but the team has shown clear weaknesses at times, especially when being pressed. If they can improve their defensive shortcomings, Tottenham could be dangerous.

Manchester United (+2500)

After a brutal start to the season that saw the Red Devils sitting at the bottom of the EPL table for the first time in 30 years, Manchester United have turned things around in a hurry.

New manager Erik ten Hag was seemingly on the hot seat after back-to-back losses to Brighton and Brentford, but has since won four matches in a row against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City, and Arsenal.

Ten Hag made the decision to remove superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and high-priced defender Harry Maguire from the starting eleven in order to create a better dynamic on the pitch. In addition, the front office went on a spending bonanza, adding Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro and Ajax striker Antony for a combined €165million.

You can’t argue with the results, as Manchester United find themselves fifth in the table, six points off top spot and with a game in hand.

Chelsea (+3300)

After a disappointing start that included a 3-0 loss to Leeds United, a 2-1 loss to Southampton, and a shutout defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Chelsea fired manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues decided to change the long-term direction of their club and brought in Graham Potter from Brighton to turn the tides.

The question is, how much of an impact can Potter make this season? Can the English coach win enough Premier League matches to capture a top-four spot with the puzzle pieces he has been given?

English Premier League Best Bet To Win

Liverpool (+700)

The Reds seem like a lost club during the early part of the season, seemingly much weaker without star forward Sadio Mané.

Darwin Núñez has not stepped in as the difference-maker many had hoped for, starting just two matches while being sent off with a red card against Crystal Palace.

After failing to win during their first three matches against Fulham, Palace, and Manchester United, Liverpool seemed to bounce back in a big way when they dismantled Bournemouth 9-0. However, they followed up this performance with a controversial win over Newcastle during stoppage time, and a draw with Everton.

Klopp seems to have his club back on the right track after two consecutive wins in the Champions League. Still, the next month before the World Cup could make a massive difference in Liverpool’s chances to challenge for the Premier League championship. If you are a believer, now is a great time to jump in at +700.

English Premier League Prop Bets

Top Goal Scorer: Erling Haaland (-400) at PointsBet Sportsbook

Does this bet make a ton of sense at -400 odds? Maybe not. However, there is no other reasonable option now, given Erling Haaland’s early season dominance.

City’s number nine recently became the first player in Premier League history to score in their first four away matches.

Going into the break, Haaland is already 33% of the way to the EPL record for goals scored in a season (34). We are only 18% of the way through the campaign.

A wager on the Norwegian striker to win the Golden Boot is a low-yield stock at the point. A virtual lock for a modest profit.

Brentford: Top 10 Finish (+225) at BetMGM Sportbook

Brentford currently sits at ninth in the table, tied with Liverpool in points, with only Manchester City having tallied more goals than the 15 Brentford have put on the board.

Ivan Toney has the Bees full of confidence heading into the international break. The 26-year-old has found the back of the net five times while providing two assists so far this season. The Brentford striker has shown tremendous growth, improving his pass accuracy and doubling his goal conversion rate, performances that have seen him called up to the England national team for the first time.

Yoane Wissa, Josh Dasilva, and Bryan Mbeumo have also provided a pair of goals each, and the Bees will continue to need production from across the board if they are to remain successful.

Brentford has scored more goals from outside the box than any other side in the Premier League this season, with four. This skill has separated the club from the pack due to their creative and dangerous offense. However, this is also a difficult trend to maintain over an entire season.

The bottom line is that Thomas Frank’s team are in a solid position heading into the international break, and stand an excellent chance to crack the top 10 after finishing 13th in the table last year.

Leicester City: Relegated from EPL (+185) at BetMGM Sportbook

It’s shocking to think that Leicester City, the last team outside of the “Big Six” to win the Premier League, is in grave danger of being relegated.

Of course, it is very early. However, the Foxes have yet to win a match this season while securing only one draw with six losses. Leicester has surrendered a league-worst 22 goals and has no answer on defense for set pieces.

Bournemouth seemed destined as the favorite for relegation, which they are according to betting lines. But the Cherries have outperformed Leicester, earning four results.

If looking for true value, West Ham is currently listed at +800 to face the drop, despite sitting 18th in the table with a 1-1-5 record.
