Pahang won the first leg 3-1 and were in danger of throwing away their lead after JDT scored two early goals in the second leg, but Mohamadou Soumareh’s late header secured the Elephants spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Dollah admitted JDT were the better team but his team converted their chance to secure the win.
“To be honest we did not play really well. JDT were the better team in the first 30 minutes but in the second half we were very disciplined with our defending and attacking.”
“We didn’t create as many chances, and Soumareh’s goal was our only chance of the night and thankfully we scored from that.”
Meanwhile, Soumareh hailed the win after a very tough game against a very good JDT side.
“It’s a great feeling to get through to the semi-finals. Coming back with the last minute goal, we fought to the end and we got the goal.”
“It was a really hard game. JDT played really well but it was a big win for us. We’ve been working on this for almost a year now so we are happy,” added the Gambian.
