The 30-year-old was caught doing a 90mph in a 70mph zone of the A27 road near Shoreham, West Sussex in his Land Rover on December 29.

During Tuesday’s court session, Bong’s lawyer Mark Haslam admitted that the defender was ‘driving too fast’ on his return from training.

"He was travelling back from training in the middle of the day. He was driving too fast - I accept that on his behalf,” Haslam was quoted by BBC.

After failing to respond to the court summons, the former Wigan Athletic player was handed additional court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £66 which sums up to £818 fine to be paid within two weeks.

The left-back who has played in every of Brighton's league matches this term, was previously convinced of two speeding offences in 2016.
