Asian Cup 2019: Bahrain to play friendlies against Philippines, China, Syria and Palestine

Miroslav Soukup's men are set to feature in four friendlies before the Asian Cup kicks-off in January 2019. They are set to take on the Philippines on September 6, followed by a game against China four days later. Then, they will lock horns against Syria on October 11 and then play a friendly against Palestine on October 16.

They already started their preparations under the tutelage of assistant coach Khaled Taj at the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) facility in Riffa. 

The team has already flown to the Czech Republic where they will be participating in a training camp for 10 to 14 days under the watchful eyes of head coach Miroslav Soukup. They already had a training camp at Bahrain before flying out to Europe. 

This will be their sixth participation in the continent's marquee tournament since their first appearance back in 1988. Their best performance was in 2004 when they finished fourth out of 16 participating teams. 

Bahrain will start their Asian Cup campaign against hosts UAE in the inaugural match of the competition on January 5, 2019. 

Meanwhile, Bahrain's U-23 team will also take part in the Alpine Cup 2018 in Myanmar where they will lock horns against Thailand, South Korea and Myanmar.
