Our good friends at Opta have complied all the numbers and stats you need to assess the teams’ chances ahead of today’s Afcon second Quater-Fina clash at Stade de Franceville.

-   Senegal and Cameroon will be meeting for the fourth time in the African Cup of Nations; the record currently stands at a win apiece and one drawn fixture.

-   Senegal do however, have a slight advantage in the overall head-to-head record against Cameroon; five wins for Senegal and four for Cameroon (five draws). Senegal have only scored once in their last six matches versus Cameroon although there have only been three in total across those fixtures.

-  This is a re-run of the 2002 AFCON Final which saw Cameroon lift the trophy after a 0-0 draw led to a penalty shootout (3-2 Cameroon).

-   This fixture isn’t the first time these sides have met in an AFCON quarter-final, Cameroon winning an encounter at this stage of the competition against Senegal in 1992 (1-0).

-   Cameroon have gone unbeaten (W1, D2) in the group stages of an AFCON for the first time since 2006 (W3); they were knocked out of that competition in the next round however (quarter-final v Ivory Coast).

-  Senegal recorded two wins and a draw in this year’s group stage; they have never had a better record during the group stages of this competition (also W2, D1 in 2002).

-   Senegal have failed to progress in four of their six quarter-finals in the African Cup of Nations (all settledin 90 minutes) whilst Cameroon have not managed to progress from three of their last four at this stage.

-   Cameroon’s last four goals at the AFCON have all come from outside the box whilst the last three recorded by Senegal have also come from outside the penalty area.

-  Three of the last four AFCON goals conceded by Cameroon have come in the first-half; conversely five of Senegal’s last six goals scored in the competition have arrived in the opening 45 minutes of matches.

-   Moussa Sow has appeared in three African Cup of Nations tournaments for Senegal and has got on the scoresheet in all of them (2012, 2015 & 2017).
