Aduana players to earn Ghana call-up if they eliminate Setif, says Appiah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has promised Aduana Stars players a place in the national team if they are able to make it to the group stage of the Caf Champions League.

The Fire Club, after eliminating Libyan side Al Tahady, face a tall order as they host Algerian side E.S Setif in the first leg of the last qualifying round at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park on Wednesday.

The Black Stars boss visited Aduana during their last training session on Tuesday ahead of the game to throw his support behind them.

"I entreat you all to eliminate E.S Setif from the Caf Champions League and make it to the group stages and I will make sure you guys get a chance in the Black Stars in my next call up," Appiah said, as quoted by Kickgh.

"I will surely honour my promise so the only thing left for you to do is to qualify after the two legs and make Ghanaians happy since it has been almost six years a Ghanaian club achieved that feat," he added.

Since 2012, no Ghanaian club aside Berekum Chelsea has been able to make it to the group stages of the Champions League and Hearts of Oak remain the only Ghanaian club to lift the trophy in the last two decades.
