Abdu Maikaba named as Plateau United new head coach

Abdu Maikaba has been announced as the technical adviser of Nigeria Professional Football League side Plateau United on Friday.

The former Akwa United boss, who agreed a two-year contract with the Peace Boys, was officially unveiled at a press conference at the club’s office in Jos.

The development brings to an end the Jos based outfit’s search for a substantive replacement for Kennedy Boboye, who left his role after his two-year contract expired in the 2017/18 season.

Before now, the 2017 NPFL champions were shopping for a replacement, with Kabiru Dogo, who left his post at Nasarawa United and Maikaba among the leading candidates.

Before securing the new job, Maikaba who now replaces erstwhile gaffer Boboye led the Promise Keepers to a 2017 Federation Cup title win - their first major domestic title in history.

Having taken up the new role, the 53-year-old, who had previous spells at Kano Pillars, Buffalo, FC Abuja and Wikki Tourist, will be hoping to build a solid side next season.
