'A real man keeps his word!' - Dembele posts cryptic message amid Lyon transfer links

Moussa Dembele has posted a cryptic message on Twitter regarding his potential transfer away from Celtic on deadline day.

The striker has been heavily linked with Lyon throughout the transfer window, which shuts in Europe on Friday and Scotland on September 1.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Thursday that the club had received a "significant" bid from the French club for the player, but said that he does not foresee the 22-year-old leaving the club.

“We don’t want Moussa to go and I can’t see it happening,” Rodgers said.

However, it has been widely reported that Dembele wants the move to go through, with Lyon desperate to sign a striker after selling Mariano Diaz to Real Madrid.

And he has posted two messages on Twitter, apparently aimed at Rodgers, as he bids to force the move through.

He first posted an image, with the words: "A man, without his word, is nothing. A real man keeps his word."

And he followed that up with a self-penned tweet, reading: "Don't get it wrong Bhoys and Ghirls, nothing to do with people who really care about the club @celticfc. Too much love and respect for you and the crest. #CarefulWhoYouCallTheLeaderOfYours." Attached to that tweet was another image, with the words: "A lie has many variations, the truth none."

Dembele has enjoyed a prolific spell in Scotland, scoring 51 goals in 94 games for the club, but former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes that the club should cash in now, given his apparent desperation to return to his native France.

"After Moussa's tweet last night there is no way he can play for Brendan Rodgers again," he wrote on Twitter. "Best to take the money."

Replying to another fan, he said: "Celtic won't get anywhere near £20 million plus add ons in January... We need to be realistic... Can't keep him and let him rot."
