Marcelo hit with driving fine

The Blancos left back was caught without a license when he was stopped by the Civil Guard in Madrid on Feb. 12 and must now pay a financial penalty of 6,000 euros.

Real Madrid and Brazil defender Marcelo has been fined 6,000 euros after being caught driving without a licence.

According to AS, the fullback was stopped close to the Spanish champions' training ground in Valdebebas on Feb. 12. The 25-year-old's previous license was later revealed by the Civil Guard to have been revoked as he had clocked up the maximum number of points.

Marcelo becomes the second Blancos player to have been guilty of driving offenses this season, with Karim Benzema also facing court on March 26 after being caught speeding.

Madrid secured its passage into the quarterfinals of the Champions League following its victory over Manchester United Tuesday and faces Celta de Vigo in La Liga on Sunday.
