Villarreal’s Gonzalo Rodriguez out for rest of season after breaking leg against Twente

Gonzalo Rodriguez will miss the rest of the Primera Division and the Europa League campaign for Villarreal after fracturing his leg against Twente.

Villarreal defender Gonzalo Rodriguez has been ruled out of all footballing action for the rest of the season after suffering a fracture to his left fibula during their Europa League victory over Twente on Thursday evening.

The Argentine centerback, who has made 23 appearances in La Liga this season, suffered the injury following a tough challenge from Marc Janko and Goal.com Spain reports that the 26-year-old will be out for between three and four months, ruling him out of action for the remainder of the 2010-11 campaign.

Villarreal won the encounter with the Dutch champions 5-1 at home with the second leg to be played in the Netherlands next week.

The 2005-06 Champions League semi-finalists are currently fourth in the Spanish Primera Division.
