Aritz Aduriz thought he would never be wearing the glorious Spanish shirt, but at the age of 29 the dream finally came true for Valencia player when made his debut for Spain against Lituania in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday evening.
“The truth is that making my debut with this great side is a moment I will never forget,” he told TVE. “That said, the most important thing were the three points because to win that game was what we wanted and we are happy about it.”
Aduriz was proud to be wearing the No. 9 shirt and enthused, “It was available so I took it. Just before I came in, Vicente Del Bosque simply told me to stay calm and to help my team-mates.”
Aduriz also spoke about Fernando Llorente, the player he came on for, and said that “he is a fantastic striker, almost unstoppable up front.”
