Bayern Munich has announced on its official website that it has successfully concluded contract negotiations with striker Mario Gomez. The Germany international has signed a new deal with FCB until the summer of 2016.
The 26-year-old attacker joined Bayern from Stuttgart in the summer of 2009 and has since developed into a key player at the Allianz Arena.
"I have always said that Bayern are a great club and that I'm feeling very well here. That's why I'm happy that the contract extension is all done now," Gomez said. "I am confident that we can achieve a lot in the upcoming years. I am keen to play a big role in all that."
Sporting director Christian Nerlinger was equally pleased with Gomez's contract extension, and was full of praise for the striker.
"Mario Gomez has developed into one of the best strikers around in Europe in the past few years. We are happy that he will continue to score his goals for Bayern. With the contract extension of Mario and several other Germany internationals, we have built the foundation for the next few years."
Gomez has been in superb form for Bayern in the 2011-12 campaign and has already netted 23 Bundesliga goals, as well as scoring 11 times in the Champions League.
