Christoph Daum has resigned as head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt following his side's 3-1 defeat to Borrussia Dortmund on Saturday and consequent demotion from the Bundesliga.
“Frankfurt should start their Bundesliga comeback with another coach,” Daum is quoted as saying by Reuters.
Daum, who had only been in the post for two months, was unable to change the club's fortunes, picking up just two points during his seven games in charge.
“There was no prospect for me [to stay on] despite the club and team being in my heart.”
Daum did not announce his intentions for the future, but is expected to spend some time away from football.
