Berlusconi: Milan was owed the penalty

The former Italian prime minister has claimed his team deserved its controversial spot kick on Sunday against Udinese and revealed his delight at new signing Mario Balotelli

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has said his team's contentious last-minute penalty against Udinese at the San Siro was “owed.”

The Rossoneri were given the spot kick which gave them a 2-1 victory over the Zebrette and the former Italian prime minister admits it was a soft award.

“The decision was very doubtful, but it was a pleasure for all Milan fans to get the decision,” he said.

Milan's winning goal came from new 22 million euro signing Mario Balotelli.

It was his second strike on a impressive debut and Berlusconi was clearly delighted with the immediate impact his January purchase made.

“Balotelli? I could not sleep after his goals,” Berlusconi said.
